The industrial machinery manufacturing sector finds multiple advantages and applications in additive manufacturing, whether for the production of functional and conceptual prototypes, for the manufacture of tools or in the manufacture of final parts.

About Inprosy

Inprosy is one of the industrial machinery manufacturing companies that has managed to make the most of the possibilities of 3D printing. With the support of INTECH3D, they have managed to reduce the costs and manufacturing and delivery times of their prototypes and final parts for transport and handling machines.

At Inprosy they build machines that guarantee fluidity and safety in the transport and handling process. The Inprosy project arises from the vocation and desire of a group of professionals, with extensive knowledge of the production logistics sector, with the aim of offering solutions to the needs of companies to improve their production processes.

“The integration of a professional 3D printer in our facilities has allowed us to work with other materials and, what is more important, not having to reckon with constant unforeseen events. In addition, thanks to the SAT service offered by INTECH3D, we have technical support whenever necessary and with an immediate response”.

Josep Bobet - Technical Director

The challenge: Increase productivity and quality in the manufacture of transport and handling machines

At Inprosy they are manufacturers of machinery for the management of production flows. Seeking continuous improvement in their results, they thought that 3D printing could be a good option to increase productivity and quality in all their productions.

The company already had a 3D printer, but it was not professional and limited them when it came to creating functional and resistant parts. Nor did it allow them to work with other materials such as ABS, which has many uses in the industry due to its high resistance. Therefore, they needed a 3D printer that would provide them with reliability, with which to manufacture the most suitable 3D models for their productions and clients.

Likewise, another of Inprosy's objectives was to find a method to reduce the part of production that had been outsourced up to that moment. It is for this reason that integrating a highly reliable 3D printer was a great opportunity for Inprosy.

The solution: Manufacture of conceptual and functional prototypes and final parts for transport and handling machines

After a consulting process with our team, the UltiMaker S5 equipment was integrated into their facilities, with which they have managed to achieve all the results that were initially proposed.

Now, at Inprosy, they can offer their clients the highest quality conceptual and functional prototypes for production flow management solutions. With the integration of a high quality and reliable 3D printer such as the UltiMaker S5, they have achieved better results and finishes in all their productions.

In addition, thanks to having integrated 3D printing internally, at Inprosy, they have managed to manufacture parts that are very difficult to produce through other manufacturing methods, such as machining.

Project results: Reduction of manufacturing costs by 80% and production times by 20%

One of Inprosy's main requirements was the possibility of printing large parts, since some of the conveyors and circuits they manufacture require this type of part. Therefore, they are pieces that require a large amount of material and many hours of activity.

Previously, some of the parts that were ordered to be manufactured using an injection mold cost €60 per unit, while the same 3D printed parts cost approximately between €10 and €15 per unit. The change in technology means to Inprosy a reduction in manufacturing costs of 80%.

The fact of stopping outsourcing has also provided them with multiple benefits, such as shortening delivery times with their clients. And, in this way, the general balance is very positive in terms of time reduction compared to other traditional manufacturing methods.

Another of the advantages of 3D printing that Inprosy has taken advantage of has been the wide range of materials with which to work. This factor has meant that they can experiment with a wide variety of materials, with specific characteristics, with which they had not previously worked. This is a step further in terms of Research, Development and Innovation.

The INTECH3D 3D Consulting process

INTECH3D we are business advisers and consultants, in the field of the integration of additive production technologies in the value chains of companies. We take responsibility for the correct integration of the teams in the value chain of each company or business:

  • Advice during the choice of the right technology
  • Marketing of equipment, consumables and spare parts
  • Training for the use of the necessary Hardware and Software
  • Integrated equipment maintenance
  • Official technical service for all products marketed

The INTECH3D technical team has more than 6 years of experience in various 3D printing technologies. We have different technologies and manufacturing materials with 3D printing, to cover the different technological or business needs of each sector:

  • Conceptual prototypes
  • Functional prototypes
  • Final components
  • Workshop tools
  • Spare parts
  • Short and medium production series.

It is also very important that all the departments of the same company know all the possibilities and benefits that 3D printing can bring to their sector:

  • Risk reduction in manufacturing
  • Reduced manufacturing costs
  • Reduced manufacturing time
  • Validation with a prototype before making an investment in final manufacturing
  • Manufacture "on demand", without discarding material.
  • Reduction of the "Time to Market" of the final product
  • Manufacture of "Bridge" series to know its fit in the market
  • Possibility of making short production series
  • Elimination of time in the provision of Stock

If you want to apply 3D printing technology in your company or business, do not hesitate to contact us. We are at the service of companies for the immediate resolution of any doubt or query related to the use of the equipment.
